The pantry is a social platform that allows foodie lovers and people to interact and share recipes around the world. It was designed with the goal of making cooking from home more convenient.
Problem
Often times, cooking from home can be daunting. Recipes that seem appealing at glance turn out to be difficult to copy or somehow get lost in translation. Most times reading the instructions deliver results that need tweaking. The Pantry aims to solve this problem with trendy clips to aide in the process from seeing the food you desire and getting it on your plate. Overall, this will allow for a better experience in kitchen.
Personas
My initial research started with a few people with an interest in cooking food and open to exploring recipes at home. This data identified pain points for The Pantry service and how it could address their problems.
Research
I expanded my survey to a larger group to aide with my design thinking and narrow my assumptions into data points. The results reflected how much time impacted a persons mood for cooking at home. With this in mind I centered my focus on a UI that would emphasis time as a priority. Take Survey
Direction of Design
The Pantry was meant to be a social experience. So I started drawing influence from leading social media platforms. Analyzing similarities between their product in order to ideate a style for The Pantry that would feel familiar by design. From my research additional features such as delivery services and messaging were added. With every feature I studied over 10 sources to learn from and noted areas for improvement that would cater to this platform.
